After relocating to Toronto, Gabriele taught Art at George Brown College, the International Institute of Design, the Art Institute and the ArtBarn. Gabriele has continued expanding her own growth as an artist by attending many workshops, not only in Canada, but the United States and Germany.
ARTIST STATEMENT
What captures Gabriele’s interest is a representation of nature and the feelings our experiences of nature evoke. Her medium is water colour, mixed medium and encaustic, which allow her to explore ways of using layers upon layers of colour to convey inner dispositions and feelings in an abstract manner, inviting and enabling the viewer to experience his or her unique emotional reaction to her paintings. Her work has been exhibited in galleries in Ottawa, Kingston and Toronto. Gabriele’s Heather Series of paintings for example, represent an undulation, isolation and shifting of perspectives. The images vacillate between abstraction and representation, evoking metaphorical scenic interpretations.
